Mutiple scans with different settings

Hello All,

I'm fairly new to SilverFast Ai Studio. I have a large amount of old magazine pages that I need to scan. I have done lots test scans and I just cannot get it done in one pass. The old thin text needs a certain set of scan parameters and the photos need something completely different. I want to keep the page in the EXACT same spot on the scan bed so afterwards I can merge the two scans in Photoshop. I do not want to have to scan all the text, then come back and scan all of the photos. Too much work and will never line up.

So my question is: Is it possible to setup two different scan settings and "batch" scan the first one, save the file, then scan the second one and save that file? I looked at the Job Manager, but I'm not sure if that is really going to do what I want it to. Maybe I just don't understand it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
John

Dear John,

The easiest way to do this is to copy an existing frame (Frame menu).
That way you get to overlapping frames for the same area. You can then place different settings for each frame by selecting it in the JobManager.

Kind regards,
Arne

Hello Arne,

thank you for your response. I tried this method, and got it to work pretty good! It will take some tweaking and fine tuning with the settings toget the different scans to look good, but I'm well on my way with your help. :D

Thanks again.

John
