Jpeg file size is dramatically different in SF 8.8 (vs 8.5)

Hi, and thanks for a great tool!

I've upgraded to Silverfast AI 8.8 (on a Mac running Mavericks, connected to a Coolscan 9000) and noticed that my default 35mm slide scans were now 1.5Mb in size (JPG baseline), from around 10-15Mb with version 8.5.

Scanning slides (w/o iSRD) with the settings: 4000 dpi on the rainbow slider and a full active frame, yields the following results:

- same pixel dimensions (around 3500 x 2500)
- cannot tell if they are of different quality at first glance
- EXIF data show 40dpi vs. 600dpi
- file size of 1.5-1.8Mb (versus >10Mb)

I've played with all sorts of combinations (Custom presets, etc), but cannot figure out what -if anything- is wrong.

Just to be sure, I've downgraded to 8.5.

If you get a chance, I would appreciate some guidance on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Xen

Hi,
I've mentioned the similar issue for JPG as well as JP2.
I've downloaded version 8.8.0r2 and the issue is solved now !

Great job and very quickly solved indeed!

I think that this bug resurfaced in r3 update; I've gone back to r2.

Please try re-downloading the r3 update and install it again.
There was in deed a wrong installer on the website for a short time.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
