BW scan on Reflecta 7200 + ICE

Postby fcs » Thu Dec 10, 2015 9:36 am

Hello,

I'm testing the SilverFast SE Plus Demo with my Reflecta 7200+ICE scanner, and I have a few questions.
This scanner comes with hardware support of ICE, TOC and CyberView X5 software.

1. How to enable in the SilverFast the Digital ICE option ?
2. How to enable in the SilverFast the ROC option ?
3. How to enable in the SilverFast the GEM option ?
4. How to enable in the SilverFast the Noice reduction option ?
5. How to scan BW negatives ?. Currently using SilverFast I get poor results. The scans looks bad comparing to results from CyberView X5.

Regards
Michał

Dear Michał,

Those are software options from a different software product.
They are not like sometimes implied hardware functions they only use the hardware but so does SilverFast.

The infrared scratch and dust removal in SilverFast is called iSRD.
The color restoration for aged images in SilverFast is called ACR and can be found in the Selective Color Correction (Selective CC) tool.
The grain and noise removal tool in SilverFast is called GANE.

How do you set the highlights and shadows for your B&W images?
Do you use the Auto adjustment or do you set them manually in the Histogram or using the Pipette?
Make sure that you deactivate the infrared scratch and dust removal for this film type.
The silver halide emulsion blocks the infrared channel.
Which film profile do you use in the NegaFix settings?

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
