Trouble scanning old printers negative

Well, I am done in. I have tried everything I know - even bought the PDF "scanning Workflows with SilverFast 8." I need help.

I have 50 year old black/white negatives that were used to print a darling little book. The owner of the sketches owns the copyright and wants to have his artwork that he lost in a fire. My issue is if I scan as a B/W Negative (or any other way) there is "banding" for a lack of a better word. Removing noise, removing moire does not help smooth it out. Always a bit of a pattern remains.

The box that they negatives were stored in says "Litholine Ortho" stable base safety film.

What am I doing wrong ? ? ?

Dear customer,

Please make sure the infrared based scratch and dust removal (iSRD) is deactivated.
The silver halide emulsion of most B&W films blocks the infrared channel, making an automated correction impossible.

In case you have a different issue I can forward you request to our support center.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Do you integrate OCR SDK into the silverfast software? I think it can help the software recognize the characters of the documents or images better.

Dear customer,

currently it is not planned to integrate OCR components in SilverFast.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
