Can't save my setup

I am having trouble setting up SF for scanning pics.
I have successfully scanned 1000s of negatives using a Reflecta scanner. Now I am using a Canoscan 8800F for the positives.
Try as I might, I simply cannot get SF to save my setup. I click on the disc icon, select ‘Save Settings’ and enter a name. However, the moment I select another one of the 4 frames found by SF, the setting reverts to the previous one. If I then select the saved setting – it is nothing like what I saved, and the red selection frame moves back to the first pic, but at a completely different size.
Help.

Dear user,

each scan frame has it's own individual settings.
You can either load the settings for each frame or you can select a frame which has been set up and then select the option "copy settings to all frames" from the Frame menu.

Additionally if you always use certain settings you can select them as defaults.
This can be done in the SilverFast preference's General tab.
The Default Setting pull down menu will show your saved settings.
If you select one of these they will be used for each newly created frame.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks Arne.
I thought I posted this next bit as a reply 2 days ago, but it seems to have disappeared.
No matter how I try and save settings, nothing seems to get saved. I cannot find the ‘
The Default Setting pull down menu
’ you mentioned – see attached.

Hoping that the temp files path would actually be the path to save resulting images, I changed that. Nope, the path for saving images reverts back to another default, that I can’t find any way of changing.
Things that I would like to be saved as default.
1. File type = PSD.
2. Image save path.
3. Resolution.
4. Some way of setting the output to double the input dimensions.
These are such obvious things to be set as defaults that SF must have some way of doing so, but I’m darnded if I can see where. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Dear customer,

It seems that you are using a SilverFast SE or SE Plus.
You probably previously were using an Ai Studio.
The SE and SE Plus versions do not offer the possibility to save your frame settings.
That is an option only included with Ai Studio.

We screen all posts in our forum.
That is why it takes a little until the posts appear.
But I have now deleted the redundant post.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks again Arne. Sorry about the double posting - patience is not my strong point.
Being able to save settings is a very, very, very basic function. Why on earth isn't it available on SE Plus?
Regards, Peter

Hi,

Bought last week a Plustek 'OpticFilm 8200' scanner with Silverfast SE Plus 8 and upgraded this online to Silverfast 8.5 Version 8.5.0r9 Build 15668.
There is an option 'Save settings' under the tab 'Scan dimensions' but that option doesn't work at all !
Please help ...

This option IS available in the SE program, so it is very irritating to read that the option only works in the Ai version !
Discouvered the problem in this forum after hours of frustration ...

Regards,
Dirk.

Dear Dirk,

That button only saves the settings for that tool box.
It does not save the frame settings. That option in deed is only available in Ai Studio.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
