How can I disable this auto-correction

Hello,

I have been trying to find a solution to a problem, looking around this forum, google, the manual, but no luck.
There seem to be a sort of auto-correct in Silverfast. Even when I deactivate everything, there is still some kind of auto-correction that I cannot manage to get rid of.
I can tell there is still this auto correct when the preview completes. The scanned negative suddenly changes in appearance. The effect seems to be a sort of auto-levels.
Any idea what I could be missing here?

Dear customer,

NegaFix dynamically adjusts to the image content.
This is necessary to correctly remove the orange mask.

You can disable this in the NegaFix dialog by removing the checkmark from the "Auto" box.
However this is not advised as the images might not be converted correctly after adjustment to the first one.

Thank you for replying.
Are you referring to the CCR checkbox of the Negafix Dialog?
It doesn not seem to be disabling the auto-adjustment, unfortunately.
The image is still being auto-adjusted depending on what is in the scan frame.
Maybe the two screenshots below will explain better.

One has the scan frame in a bright area (top right corner), and the auto-adjust seems to attempt balancing the brightness by darkening the frame.
The other has the scan frame in a darker area (bottom right corner), and the auto-adjust seems to attempt balancing the brightness by brightening up the frame.
Any idea?

Dear Bert,

No, that is not the right button.
It's the "Auto" checkbox in the expert settings' Expansion dialog (below the Highlights slider).

Hi Arne,
Thank you for your help. However, I still think we are talking about two different things here.

I found a page that explained what I am referring to. See the section of The following page: The Secrets of Richard Photo Lab, where Mr Patience explains:
"A film scanner usually tries to define absolute black and absolute white within each frame. If the operator doesn’t lock the exposure you won’t be able to tell the difference as long as you’re within the latitude of the film."

I am trying to do just that. But perhaps I am still missing something.

Dear Bert,

Can you maybe tell me what your goal is.
Not what you think your problem is.

Because I think you are not going into the right direction here.

You can not scan without any automatic adjustment at all.
That would leave you with a negative.

Exposure is simply adjusted moving the exposure slider.
I do not think that is what you need.

Please give me a description of what is going wrong.
