What can I do to make Silverfast8 go faster

Postby wooster88 » Wed May 28, 2014 1:50 pm

When I scan a picture, after scanning, it goes into the processing mode which takes a long time and sometimes freezes the PC I have gone into task manager and it doesn't seem to be using much RAM (I have 2 GB). Can I make it go any faster ?

Dear customer,

your memory is very low.
Adding more RAM would be a good first step.
Try using SilverFast on it's own.
Especially other imaging software, web browsers and office products can use a lot of memory.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear customer,

In case you are using a 32bit operating system this is about the maximum usable memory.
On a 64 Bit system you could add more RAM.

3,12 GB can be sufficient if not much other software is active and your scans are not too big (e.g. 35mm @ 2400dpi).
For larger and highest-resolution scans adding more RAM can improve the processing speed.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
