Scanning slides - colours not scanning properly

Postby Rod » Thu Jan 23, 2014 2:53 am

Newbie to this forum. I've just bought a new Plustek OpticFilm 8100. Have had great success scanning 35mm negatives, but ...

... scanning 35mm positive slides is proving frustrating. I cannot seem to get the same quality of light in the slide scan that you can clearly see with the naked eye. All slides are scanning much darker, with loss of quality in light colours (whites and beiges).

Even after making adjustments in Picture Settings with mid-tones and contrast this is still an issue.

Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a workaround?

Dear Rod,

Have you tried activating Multi-Exposure for the scans?

Did you use the image auto adjustment (e.g. Auto CCR) to set the highlights and shadows or did you do it manually in the Histogram?
It sounds as if your highlights are not set correctly.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear Arne
thank you for your prompt reply, and suggestions.
I have rescanned using ME and am very happy with the results.
I was very pleased with my negative scans, and now with your help the positive scans are just as good.
regards
Rod Phillips

Dear Rod,

Good to hear that.

(But I removed your address from your post so you do not get any unwanted advertisement mail. ;-) )

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
