Scanning multiple photos?

Postby otava » Sun Aug 25, 2013 12:54 pm

I got my silverFast with my Canon 9000 F. Is this a limited edition as I cannot perform the function. Also the Auto Alligment is "missing". The logical flow of the sequences is not clear, as the flow of scratch removal. should the corrections made in prescan carried out when moving to the actual scan? Is theree a tutorial starting from the prescan to the final end as an example instead of separate single videos of each function?
Thank you for your patience

Dear customer,

Are you searching for the automated frame finding?
That can be found in the "Frame" menu.

To see the iSRD or SRD correction in the preview if you activate the 1:1 preview.
This is also applied in the final scan.

There is no complete tutorial movie available at this moment.
But I will forward your request to our documentation department.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks
As I said the tutorials being separate I can scan a single foto, find a single frame out of three, Semove dust from a single foto but I cannot scann 3 separate fotos dust removed as there is no example for that. This is obviously very simple for someone who has worked longer period with the program, but if you have 50+ applications to master then even siple things can be problematic without step by step instructions.

I have SilverFast 8 SE. Is that somehow limited edition?

Thanks

Dear customer,

The SilverFast SE is our simplest software.
The next step would be SilverFast SE Plus which offers advanced features for film scanning like Multi-Exposure.
The most advanced scanner software is SilverFast Ai Studio which offers all available features, expert dialogs and IT8 color calibration.

When you have three frames in your preview please check the settings for each frame.
Every frame has it's own settings.
So activating an option for one frame does not activate it for the others.
You can however use the functions in the frame menu to copy the settings from the active frame to all others before making individual adjustments.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Let me first tell you that I am very happy with the improved dust removal on my Epson V700. It really works great.

So here I go with the last AI version: scanning hundreds of slides in 12 slide batches. And then I encounter a problem I am unable to solve so far.

Silverfast keeps all the setting (e.g. jpeg, 3200 dpi, dust removal on, etc) from one batch to the next. That is just what I want; great.
But occasionally I press the "find frames". It finds the frames well enough (not for very dark areas, but I can understand why), but in my case "find frames" resets all my settings to some sort of default values (tiff, 1600 dpi, nu dust removal).

What am I doing wrong? Saving settings does not help.

Sjinual

Dear Sjinual,

Executing the find frame option will draw new frames.
Because all settings are bound to the individual frames this will create new frame with new settings.

In SilverFast Ai Studio you can save settings in the frame menu.
(Frame -> settings ->save frame settings)
These settings can then be selected in the SilverFast preferences' general tab as default values.
They will be in the pull down menu.
Selecting a saved set of settings will create all new frames with those settings.
This allows you to use the find frame option and have SilverFast fill your frames with your most common settings.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I bought an AI Studio license, but there is no settings button under "Frame".

I installed a trial version of Silverfast and then got two license numbers. One is to make an 8SE version working; the second is to upgrade from 8Se to AI. Am I right?
There were no warning messages that anything has gone wrong.

Is ther a check to find out if AI is working?
And if so, how do I install the frame->settings possibility?

Sjinual

Dear Sjinual,

Please make sure that the correct serial is in use.
You can look this up in the welcome screen's service dialog.
There you can also change the serial if necessary.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
