All scans very dark ('underexposed')

I am new to scanning. I have just purchased a Plustek OpticFilm 8100 scanner running SilverFast SE8 software.

I want to scan Kodachrome slides, but all my trials so far have produced scans (both Prescan and full Scan) which are very dark, even for original slides which are properly exposed (ie original slide is not underexposed).

It seems as if the light in the scanner is not operating at full brightness? OR I have not put the right settings into Silverfast? I have activated both Transparency and Kodachrome in the toolbar.

Can anybody tell me what to do, or is my scanner malfunctioning?

Dear customer,

Please check if you selected one of the 48/64 Bit HDR(i) formats.

These are unaltered, raw scans which need to be processed in SilverFast HDR (Studio).

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Hi.

I have read this post and profit from your answer because i have analog problems.

1) my batch scan are surexposed, and the correction that i give are not appliqued (only when i make individual scan, but not on batch scan) why ?

2) I dont find how it is possible to make a batch traitment on a folder with silverfast HDR from HDR64bits to jpeg 24bits ?

Thanks.

Dear customer,

where do you process the images are you using a SilverFast scanner software or SilverFast HDR?

In SilverFast HDR (Studio) HDR you can simply use the load button and mark the images you want to process.
These are then loaded into the JobManager.
Then make your general settings on one image (target resolution, 48->24 bit output, jpg format, etc.).
you can the transfere the settings either by using the copy and paste butons (for individually selected settings) or the transfer settings to all frames option from the frame menu (copying all settings).

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Hi.

Actually i don't use Sf HDR.

But I have found. I have desactived the last option in globals parametres / auto tab and the batch scan use my defined parameters.
The French translation is not very explicit (in this tabs).
It should be good to have possibility to change sometime the language of silverfast for seeing the original sentence of an option or a request.

Thanks for your help.

Is-it possible tu use the same file name that de original hdr file ?
Because when i clic on play, i have the same screen that bath processing and i must define a prefix name and an index.

And actualy the process begin with 2 pictures, and stop after the 2nd with "cancelled" message.
There are no file recorded in the new directory.

Regards

Dear customer,

If you leave the batch scan "save" window as it is (not making any changes) and only press the scan/process button right away the individual names set in the scan dimensions window will be used.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn
