CMS has no effect went Importing to Photoshop CS5

I am using SilverFast 8.0 Version 8.0.1r24 Build number:9062 with an Epson Expression 10000XL on a MacPro tower running Mac OS X 10.8.3. I am running SilverFast through Photoshop CS5 Extended's Import option.

I created a number of ICC profiles using 3rd party applications and changing the profiles has no effect on the color of the scans. However if I open SilverFast as a stand-alone, changing the profiles has the desired effect.

Dear Mr Heumiller,

When SilverFast is started from Photoshop the Photoshop target Colorspace settings are used.
Therefor SilverFast blocks this setting.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

So there is no way for Silverfast to apply an input profile when run from Photoshop? This is detrimental to my workflow.

Are you scanning positives or negatives?

Sorry for the delay, I hadn't check the forum in a while.

We are scanning reflective positives (prints). I wish to create a profile using an SG chart and external software (BasICColor Input) as I used to in SilverFast 6, however it appears that choosing an input profile in CMS has no effect when using the Import option in Photoshop. I wish to use the import dialogue as I have the person using the scanner apply a cropping path in the image and run a photoshop script that saves a couple derivatives.

The import profile you set up in SilverFast will be used for interpreting and rendering the information from the scanner.

This works exactly the same as in SilverFast 6.

You only need to make sure the target (internal) colorspace is set up the same in Photoshop and SilverFast.
The input profile itself will not appear in Photoshop only the target workspace will be visible.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I tried doing that however it appears that no matter what I change the input profile to, the colors stay the same when scanned through the workflow pilot into Photoshop. Even when I give it a "wrong" profile there is no change in color. I will go back an play with it more, but if you can think of anything else that I might be doing wrong, I'd appreciate it.

Is ColorSync active for
Input -> Working Space (except for negatives)
and
Working Space -> Monitor

Working Space -> Output should be set to <RGB>

Which Rendering Intend are you using?
colorimetric and saturation rendering could cause the effect you experience.
