HDRi Studio 8 file formats

Does HDR support the Photoshop PSD format? This format does not present the file size limit of 30MB that TIFF has.

What workflow would you recommend to scan 35 mm positive and negative colour film with Ai Studio 8 and process it with HDR, the objective being arriving at a maximum image quality with a view to archive slides and negatives?
