After scanning a few hundred 35mm negatives successfully, I now see darker bands across the negative scans. Is this software or hardware related? Any advice would be appreciated. I'm using an Epson V700 with MacBPro and latest OS. Take a look at the scan here and thanks for your help....Wayne

Dear customer,
If that suddenly occurs it is most likely a hardware issue.
Have you made sure those shadows are not on the film.
Make sure no devices are attached to the same power socket which might cause a feedback.
Like flourecent lights, devices utilizing strong electrical motors or generally using a lot of power.
Otherwise carefully check if the lamp in the scanner might change colors.
But be aware the lamp is very bright.
Sunglasses might help.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Do the bands align with the movement of the scan head ?
i noticed the image is reversed. Any chance that it matters if the film is emulsion side up or down ?

1. Rotate one negative 90 degrees and re-scan. Do the bands rotate also? If so, then they are artifacts in the negative and not from the scanner or software.
2. Try scanning with the software provided by Epson, rather than SilverFast. Are the bands still there? If so, then they are not from the software.
