LaserSoft Imaging

I'm a very happy customer, using SilverFast E-5.5.2r14 on my ancient Epson Expression 636. I just upgraded to MacOS X 10.2, and now the Silverfast plugin is unable to see the SCSI scanner. I know the SCSI support is in there because I'm able to scan successfully using v**s**n. Any suggestions? Perhaps a bug-fix is coming for Jaguar compatibility?

I had the same problem. Upgraded to OS X 10.2 and now I cant
use silverfast SE unless I boot up in OS 9 (doesnt even work in Classic)
I hope there will be a patch for this. By the way will Ai work?

Ai does NOT work in 10.2, at least not for my Epson Expression 800. Paid a lot for this software...this is ridiculous.

I read some reports on a developer's list that Apple acknowledged that some errors crept into Jaguar SCSI code and the fixes are already known and ready to ship in the 10.2.1 update. The official update should be coming soon, rumored to be just a week or two away. I know it's hard to produce software on a rapidly changing platform, so I am appreciative of LaserSoft for their efforts to keep up with the state of the art (even on our legacy SCSI peripherals).

SCSI support for Jaguar is fixed (no need for 10.2.1 update). We will post new Demos and Updates (Ai/SE) ASAP.

Very happy to hear you have SCSI working again. I'll watch for the updates.

I read your post of 9/03 that a fix for the problem of scsi scanners not being "seen" while running Silverfast under 10.2 would be available soon. I've been watching the forum for an update on this matter but have seen nothing. I'm a Silverfast user with Epson Expression 636 and running 10.2. I'm eager to find out when I'll be able to use Silverfast with Photoshop 7 running under OS 10.2. If the fix is something simple as in just a couple of missing files which need to be added to a library, couldn't they be made downloadable in your support area? I am sure there must be alot of Silverfast users with scsi scanners who have upgraded to 10.2 who are in the same state as I. The simple answer for the time being might be just to reboot in 9.2.2 and run Silverfast under that OS. However, for me and a few others I know about, the installation of 10.2 made changes to 9.2.2 which has left it highly unstable (unlike with 10.1.5).

I'd just like to see something from LaserSoft giving me an idea of when a fix will be available. Looking forward to seeing some news regarding this matter soon. Regards - Harvey

Plugins are sent to Epson for testing and I would expect new update versions within this week (hopefully).

Thanks Eric for that bit of info. Knowing that I may not be without scanning capability for too much longer makes me smile.

After a little fooling around and downloading new SE, everything works great. Lady at Siverfast was very helpful

Hey, I am amazed, I am back up and running after the MacOS X 10.2.1 update, no change to the Silverfast plugins required. Apple said "improved SCSI performance" in the update and it looks like they got things working again.
