Optical Resolution Epson 2450 Photo

I use Silverfast 6 with an Epson 2450 Photo and a Windows 2000 System mostly to scan medium format negatives. If I press the Ctrl button in the silverfast preview window I can see the optical resolution which is used by the scanner and Silverfast.

The optical resolution of the scanner which is published by Epson is 2400 dpi x 4800 dpi, the last value is the smallest stepping size of the stepper motor. Silverfast however shows in the high resoultion range only the values 2400 dpi and 3200 dpi after presing the Ctrl button. What is the optical resolution if "3200 dpi" is displayed?

Happy scanning!

Guido

Dear Guido,
you might have a recent Epson Perf.2450 (and probably bought it in Europe). The new releases of this scanner features 3200dpi optical res.
This product should be sold as 3200 Perf. model (I believed that Epson then sells this model under a new name).

Thank you for your quick answer. I bought the 2450 in Europe in April 2002, and it has firmware 1.05 (so says SF_logfile.txt).

Just to understand why this resolution vaules are not advertized by Epson: Do you mean 2400 dpi x 3200 dpi or do you mean 3200 dpi x 3200 dpi?

Of course you cannot answer for Epson, but can you imagine reasons for having resolution values on Epson's websites different from the capabilities of their scanners?

Have a nice weekend.

Guido

I assume that Epson did not change this because they don't want to confuse customers; or Epson Marketing is not aware of the uphauled Perfection scanner.
