First, from a technical standpoint the software seems to do a good job. I evaluated the software that came with my scanner (Epson Scan), v**s**n, and the SilverFast SE version that shipped with the scanner. Based on that evaluation I just purchased the version 8.
Frankly, I am at a loss for words after looking around in the user interface (which is MUCH improved by the way).
That being said, features that should be VERY basic for a piece of high-end scanning software..are, ABSENT.
1. You can't choose and/or change the file save location? Seriously? Do you have any idea how much importance being able to do that has on someone's workflow? Do you plan to add it? When?
2. There is no option for batch naming files? How can you not think of something like that? These things are so basic.. I have a hard time believing they're not there. Incidentally, if and when you DO add this capability...please make sure it doesn't reset any auto-counters when you close the software. You know, store the last value in a constant that can be used as a starting point. You could even be really nice and allow the user to choose the starting point you know?
3. A manual, even an online manual. I looked all over the place trying to figure out where the documentation was. It wasn't till I jumped into the forum to get some answers on things that I realized...there isn't any. Yes, I see your videos... they're lacking.
Where can I find a schedule of upcoming updates? I just paid a fair amount of money for a piece of software that seems to be in the BETA version. If you're going to push out BETA's to people you should say that. I need something that has basic functions intact.
I suppose I'm not at a loss for words after all.

Re: Epson V700 Silverfast 8 Ai Studio
Dear customer,
The file name and location can be set in the Scandimensions dialog box.
The file numbering was original canceled in favor of an automatic numbering.
But we had some requests about this and our Product management has already been informed.
The manual is in the making but not quite ready yet.
Our updates are released when they are tested and ready.
We do not have a schedule for their release.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
