I know it produces tiff.
But are these regular TIFFs ?
I mean when I open these TIFFs in photoshop, am I getting all the information stored inside the file ?
If I have t apply gamma correction, and other color manipulations on an HDR file produced from Silverfast, which software should I use ?
Whats teh difference between HDR and HDRi ?

Hi Norris

HDR and HDRi files are raw files written in a tiff format.

HDR is a standard Tiff file that uses 16 bits per channel. HDRi has a fourth 16 bit channel containing the infrared information.

HDR files can be opened with any application capable of handling 16 bit Tiff files
HDRi files can be opened by any 16 bit Tiff capable application with the difference, that the infrared channel can not be read or interpreted by any of those applications, and they will probably damage the file, resulting in lost information which can not be recovered, having to rescan the files again.

Cheers
