Epson 3200 and Digitaliza

Postby ambermai23 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:13 pm

Hello,

The Epson 3200 comes with a negative holder that only allows you to scan 1 medium format frame at a time. This means that scanning is even more time consuming as you have to readjust the film strip after each scan, and also increase wear and tear on the negative itself.

I bought a Digitaliza, a negative holder that makes the entire negative strip visible. I've positioned it under the light strip.

As you can see, Silverfast doesn't seem to recognise that it's a negative at all. I've tried with Epson Scan sofware as well, it brings up a similar image. Is there a manual fix for this?

Thank you,
Amber

Dear Amber,

Make sure you have the protective lid removed and that your SilverFast version is in transparency mode.

There is also a calibration area required by the scanner to work correctly.
This is left free by the standard film holder.
Make sure your new holder does not block that .
The calibration area is located at the first 2-3cm from the hinges.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Oh my goodness! Just pulling the negative holder down has fixed it! I cannot believe it. Thank you so much, and I hope this post helps someone else. I had searched and searched for hours for a solution to this, and it's so incredibly simple!
