I need assistance regarding interpretation of scan results of Silverfast Resolution Target with Epson 1680 flatbed scanner. I tried to find a movie explaining the procedure but can not find. I do not understand the instructions for determining the group numbers and element results of the scan. Can someone please explain this to me. I can send the tiff file of the scan if that would help. A response would greatly be appreciated.

We currently do not have a movie for the resolution target, but I will forward this to our multimedia people.
What kind of issue do you experience?
You normally create a 48bit HDR scan and then load the tiff file in SilverFast HDR, Photoshop CS or any other imaging program capable of opening 48bit tiff.
There you take a look at the blocks of lines and discern those still distinguishable from another.
Then you look up the resolution in the provided table.
Please be aware that horizontal and vertical resolution can differ due to technological reasons.

I perform the 48bitHDR scan in Silverfast Ai and save the tiff file and open in Photoshop CS5. The problem is, I do not understand the instructions how to properly read the tiff image. Can I send you the tiff file so you can read it for me and tell me which group/element you would select? Sorry for the confusion on my part. A response would be appreciated.

The instructions state:

2. Start your SilverFast scan software and do a transmissive raw-scan (48bit HDR) with the
maximum optical resolution - therefore please always choose the next to last step of the
resolution slider. (The last step chooses an interpolated resolution, which is inappropriate.)
You should not activate iSRD or Multi-Exposure.

I use an Epson 1680 flatbed scanner which has a resolution of 1600 x 3200 dpi optical resolution. Do I set the resolution to 1600dpi OR the next to last step of the resolution slider in Silverfast Ai?

You always use the next to last step in the resolution slider.
That is the highest resolution provided by your scanner's driver.
