Lite ICE and Quality ICE both have issues

Using HDR and Lite Ice with 66 negs I started getting some severe and BIG artifacts espicially in highlights. Looks like big corruption. This corruption goes away with Quality ICE but there is so much dark to light edge erosion that is it's own problem.
I prefer Lite ICE both because it softnens very little, (Quality ICE softens a lot) and because it does not introduce edge erosion.
Why is HDR and Lite ICE causing the BIG corruption?
The film is not Kodachrome, just Konica Professional 400 which is in the negafix list. This happens with "for HDR" checked or not.
Now I just found another variable, with a crop of the center of the same frame, no setting changed at all the problem of BIG corruption is gone but when the full frame is scanned the issue returns.
And another variable, the frame next to it does do this. The main difference is the one with problem has a big old white sign, an old gas station, and the problem free one does not have any big areas of highlights. Also the one with the big white area only had the problem if the whols frame was scanned but with the center crop there was no issue.
And a final non-HDR scan of the whole frame had the problem so it was not HDR specific. It is Lite-ICE that specific image.
