neg scan order on a 4990

I have an older ver of SF, 6.4 It does something that i find really annoying and I cannot seem to find a way to stop it - when scanning 35mm frames it seems to select a random order regardless of how i set things out. reset, re install, it just seem s to be quite random. is there a setting that will cure this problem?

Dear Perry,
what problem do you exactly have ? Is there a different color when you scan the same Neg twice with the same settings ?
Can you please tell me how you are scanning these and film it is ?

Hi Thomas. The neg holder on the 4990 shows what order you should arrange your negs.
lets say it's from the bottom right (of the first row) going to the left 1,2,3 etc.and then back to the begining of the second colmun at the right.
There are 4 columns of 6 up to 24.
MY scans, as I tried to say are random it doesnt double scan but it will go from no 1 bottom left in the first column to the third space on the fourth column, then back to the second column etc in a seemingly random order.
It's extra work to order the scans and i wonder if there is a setting to correct this.
At the moment i have sf working independently not as a PS (CS3) plug in, but this makes no difference.

you are looking for this function I think:
just click and hold the "1 2 3" button and you will get the dropdown menu shown in the screenshot

thanks Thomas its so long since i have used it I had forgotten about the 123 button. However I don't get that drop down menu and while i can see the numbers I have no idea how to reorder the masks. Well nothing i have tried does it anyway. Do recall that this is the 6.4 version. Maybe that menu was not available back then?

you are right the drop down menu is a new feature of SilverFast 6.5.
I was not aware that you where using SilverFast 6.4

Perry,
The version you have sorts left -> right -> top to bottom. Wait until you have done all of your adjustment and then click on the sort button because each time you click on a frame it changes the sort order making the frame you click on number 1. If you click the sort button first and then decide make a change to the settings on one of the frames you will need to click on the sort button after you make the changes.
