MultiExposure and MultiScan Epson V750

On an Epson V750, I've just upgraded from Ai to Ai Studio for the MultiExposure funciton. Couple questions:
1) Only 2x is available for the MultiExposure function (no 4x available). Is this simply a hardware limitation, i.e., the range the scanner is capable of reproducing is fully achieved with only 2 exposures? (I'm scanning 4x5 color negatives.)
2) When using MultiExposure, MultiScan is automatically reset to 1X. Is this correct? MultiExposure and MultiScan cannot be used together?

Dear Joevitone,
You are absolutely right, on your second assumption, you can either use MultiExposure or MultiScan (also called MultiSampling) but they can not be used together.
The MultiExposure feature only works in two passes, it is not a hardware limitation, it is just a better implementation of the algorithms which allows SilverFast to obtain the full range in 2x while avoiding misalignment problems.
Thanks for your interest
Have a nice day

Alejandro, thank you for your reply. Another issue that has arisen since the upgrade to Studio: I no longer have available IT8 calibration function. I believe I am familiar with all that would make it NOT be available (e.g., attempts to invoke the function while using a color negative). I am working in 48 bit, have tried both in reflective and transparency (positive) with no luck. (There is no "greyed out" icon for IT8, simply none at all visible in the tool bar at any time.) I am working with a MacBook Pro using OS 10.5.5. I am running what I believe is the most recent version of SilverFast, 6.6.0r3a. I have uninstalled and reinstalled through download and re-initialization of the Studio Ai serial number. Of course I have reset the preferences as well to no avail. Any hints? Thanks much.

Dear Joe,
IT 8 calibration is an optional feature which does not come with all SilverFast serials, it is available as an upgrade to SilverFast Ai or Ai Studio.
Since you already bought an upgrade to version Ai Studio 6.6 you will probably get a a good discount for the upgrade to Ai Studio with IT8 calibration. Please check our online store at:

I thought perhaps the problem was with the license. Indeed, the upgrade should have included both IT8 and Printer-Calibration function. Neither of them is present. As noted, IT8 actaully DISAPPEARED following the "upgrade". We have been attempting to get resolution from your purchasing folks for some time now but to no avail. Perhaps this week we may get lucky.
