Downsampling scan from Epson V750

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I understand that the V750's 'high resolution' lens doesn't come into play until you are using 6400dpi!

Now, if that is the case, can I scan at 6400dpi and then 'downsize' to around half that? Otherwise I get files over 100MB.

If I am wrong and there are any V750 experts out there, can you tell me which settings bring the high res lenses into play?

Dear pioneer,

the super high resolution lens s integrated into the V750 to make 6400dpi scanns possible.
You could instruct SilverFast to scann at 6400dpi (using the resolution slider) and setting the scaling/output size to the intended values.
But to our experience this does not improve the image quality in comparison to a 4800dpi or lower scan at the intended dpi.
In most cases SilverFast automatically selects a higher internal resolution for the actual scanning anyway.

kind regards
