I'm using SilverFast SE 6.6.0r1 on OS X Leopard and my full area negative scans come out great for B&W but are far too light when scanning color. Same results if I scan as positive (too dark) or negative with NegaFix, Portra, 160VC (far too light).
What do I need to do to correct this? I just upgraded to 6.6 and I had the same issue with 6.5.
Thanks, Greg

Dear Greg,
i am a bit unsure what you mean by saying "full area negative scans" ?!
Do you use one frame to select multiple negatives ( including background ) and then scan those ?!
Please let me know what you do exactly before i can try to find a solution, will you ?

When using the 8x10 film area guide to make contact sheets. In SilverFast SE I choose Transparency (full area) and the scans come out way too light when using color film. B&W works fine. Let me know if you need more info.

Dear ethan,
ah, i can see the problem !
SilverFast tries to analyze & compensate for the individual orange mask of the film / photo you selected.
As you selected all Photos, possibly with background and/or holder this cannot work.
You can do one of the following to partly compensate for this:
-1- You work exactly as you did and then "play" with the exposure slider in the negafix dialog to darken the image.
-2- You first select one image ( it should look okay then, not too light ), then open the negafix expert options and uncheck the auto button.
THEN you expand the frame to hold the full area. By unchecking the auto option SF will not do a new analysis of the negative mask.
You can also choose to save your settings at that point...
