Epson Perfection 4180 won't upgrade to Vista

Postby CarlP » Sat May 03, 2008 8:15 pm

Epson does have a recommended driver which I have DL, uninstalled all previous, and installed - more times than I can count. Epson support is worse than none. It takes days to get an answer and then when you reply that their fix didn't work, it's like you get a new rep and he starts all over again. Three times for me in 2 weeks. I can see from this forum that Epson has a poor support division.

Anyway, My scanner worked for several years in XP. I just went to a New Dell with Vista Home Premium, and I keep getting the message that it can't find a file, and don't even list what the file is. Their recommended driver for Vista 32 and 64 is "epson 12180.exe"

Any fixes?

Dear Carl,
we are also experiencing some communication problems when it comes to VISTA & Epson ( especially Vista64 ), so i can feel your pain.

However we managed to "just install" the EPSON drivers on Vista ( although we then have trouble with SilverFast ).

If i understand you correctly you are already in trouble with installing the EPSON drivers, not SilverFast, right ?

So if EPSON cannot help you, please if there is another EPSON 4180 User that experienced the same problem and got around it, post the solution here.

Sorry, as this only gave you moral support :-(

best regards,

Nils Heidorn
