Like many users of Silverfast I have been disappointed by the absence of a x64 Vista version release. However I have found a work-around using SF 6.4.4r7 that seems to work well and is compatible with PS3. For the work-around to function, two important settings must be changed. One is to disable the WIA service; the other is to make the Win-XP version compatible with Vista. To disable WIA, click on Start, and type MSConfig in the search line. In the MSConfig window click 'services' and look for the WIA setting and clear the check-box. If SF is already installed, right click on its icon and click on 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, click the box 'Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2'. You should be able to run the program without problems as a standalone or with PS.
One down-side is that this process does not appear to work with the latest Demo release for Vista 32-bit, which I guess is no surprise.
I would expect that this method should work with other Epson scanners.

Dear Chemist,
thank you for posting this again, we mentioned this workaround in this forum before.
However we are not proud of this workaround and are still waiting for a good way to disable this programatically, but we did not get a hint about this from EPSON and the usual ways do not work as the security and priviliges are more restrictive under Vista.
We did not forget this and we hope to solve this soon !
best regards,
Nils Heidorn
