Just checking on Epson V500 software

I recently bought an Epson Perfection V500 and would love to use Silverfast instead of the bundled Epson software. Is the V500 compatible with Silverfast software for other Epson scanners? Silverfast employees pls respond this time - this is my 4th message regarding this. Thanks.

Is there a distinction between the Epson Perfection V500 and the Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanners? Can I use the Silverfast software for the latter scanner?

@ Will. Yes, you can find a compatible version of SilverFast in its four flavours for the Epson Perfection V500 Photo.

@ John. Yes they are the same scanner, as a matter of fact (to the best of my knowledge) there is only an Epson Perfection V500 photo. You can use SilverFast for your scanner.

Hi, I have just bought a V500 for use with a Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit PC.

I saw on your Epson scanner model page that you only support Windows XP at the moment. Is that really correct, given how long Vista has been out now, or is it a typo? If it's true, do you have an estimated date when a Vista version will be available?

Also, is the ICE functionality going to be supported?

Cogratulations on your purchase. The information you have found on our website is correct. At this very moment there is no SilverFast version compatible with Vista.

The good news is that we are testing a new version which will support Vista 32 and Vista 64 bits. This new version will soon be released (since we are in the test stage I would say it might be released in March 2009).

The bad news is that SilverFast will not support ICE with the Epson Perfection V500, this is due to a licencing conflict from the patent holder.
