Can it be done? 2 version of SF, 2 Epson Scanners, 1 PC

Postby Ouroboros » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:56 pm

Hi guys

I have thousands of medium format slides to scan and am using a combination of scanners to do them with.

The main ones I am using at the moment are the Epson V700 (came with SF SE) and the Epson V750 (came with SF AI6).

What I am wanting to do is run both scanners at the same time using both version of the software whilst they are connected to one PC so I can speed up the scanning time.
The V700 being driven by SE
The V750 being driven by AI 6

Is it possible to do? It won't let me use more than one scanner at once, it comes up with the error message "Error! Preference file is already in use"

I have tried loading SE with Photoshop CS2 and Ai6 as a stand alone program, but it does the same thing - gives that error message then loads up the software in 'demo mode'.

I am using Windows XP.

I have to admit to being total newbie with SF so could be missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance! :)

I'm curious about this topic also. Maybe in my case it would be simpler - I'd like to attach two identical V750s to a single XP computer, and use the included AI6 for both of them. Is this possible? -Steve

I'm really surprised that this post has had 213 views and yet no one has been able to do this?

I'm *incredibly* surprised that none of the LSI staff who have since posted in this forum have answered this very straightforward question.

Anyone?????

Thanks (fingers crossed)

I think the problem is going to be no matter how many SF packages you are running it creates and uses the same folder for for profiles and preferences and you have no choice where those files are created if you clear them SF will recreate them , but both versions use the same folder. Thats why you get in in use message.

Dear qeeqaig,

you are right. SilverFast cannot use two scanner of the same brand at the same time.
To save time, possibly please use our Batch or JobManager feature.

Best regards,
Martin
