batch processing of scanned slides

Hi. First time here so I don't know if this item has been dealt with yet.
I have an Epson "Perfection 4870 Photo" scanner, using Silverfast version 6.4.4r6 (the free upgrade from 6.2)
And this is bundled with Photoshop Elements 2.0
OK, now, the Epson came with a few plastic templates. It's the one that holds 8 slides that I'm interested in here.
The question is: Am I already outfitted with the right "everything" to be able to scan the 8 slides at a time, then use Photoshop 2.0 to batch digitize the images so they appear as separate images?
I'll grow old too quickly if I find out I have to crop each slide individually to be able to copy, say, a couple of hundred slides at a time to CD or to integrate them into a video production in my Mac computer.
Can anyone demystify what I don't seem to be able to get an answer to please?
