V750 calibration general question
Hello there
I bought an V750 because the included software especially SF Ai is really professional. The scanner is delivered with Monaco EZColor. Is it necessary to calibrate the scanner with the included EZColor target or do you think it is sufficient to use the one from SilverFast? If I also want to calibrate my printer, which one should I use?
Thanks
Heiko

Dear puschteblume,
wearing my "silverfast hat" i have to say: just use the silverfast it8 calibration, it should be easier and more error-proof.
For the printer calibration just use the monaco package.
As all calibrations always aim for the same target it is no problem at all to create different device profiles with different software...
( e.g. you could then also calibrate your monitor with x-rite or the like... )
Greetings,

Hello,
i also have this scanner and tried to go trough the calibration process in Silverfast Ai. Unfortunatelly, the reflective Monaco target is suplied with reference file with *.mrf extension only, so I can't load it into Silverfast Ai (it requests *.txt reference files). So the question is, if there is any chance to calibrate Silverfast with this target I got already in package, or do I have to buy one from LaserSoft?
Thank you.
Radim

Interesting that Monaco and SilverFast AI are bundled in the Epson v750 kit. The bundled SilverFast does not include the Industry standard target.
Where can I buy industry standard targets? I am also looking for Kodachrome targets. Are these compatible with with SF Ai?
Kodachrome slides are difficult to clean but SRD does a very good job; ICE does not work. The colour is also difficult to render correctly hence the need for the correct target. I do not know if the Monaco target works with Kodachrome but I would be surprised if it did.

Dear brabason,
as long as the targets are IT-8 standard you will have the industry standard,
I recommend our webshop :
https://www.silverfast.com/order/de.htm ... rder_no_sf
...please don't forget that only SilverFast targets have the barcode to run the automated cerlibration built in since version 6.5.
kind regards

Your shipping price for a target to Japan is: 67 EURO!!!!!!!!
That is not a serious price for shipping 10 g of anything to anywhere in the world...
Just use standard postal services as you do to Germany (6-7 EUROs?).

Re: V750 calibration general question
Dear maiaibing,
as far as i am informed this is a Standard UPS price, not going to our bank account :-)
I asked a Sales person to answer you this and to give you a hint if there is an alternative.
Please stand by until he posts an answer here.
best regards,
Nils Heidorn

It is not a must to use the LaserSoft Imaging targets.
But it is much more convenient because including the barcode only these can be use for the fully automated calibration.
And I think for EZColor targets have the reference data in a special format so these can only be used by Monaco itself.
kind regards

Re: V750 calibration general question
I also discovered yesterday the Monaco EZ color transmissive target reference file works fine with Lasersoft. However not so with the reflective target.
Where does Lasersoft want me to put the Monaco EZ color created "custom profile" so Lasersoft can use it.
And, what and where do I find the custom .icc profile created for the transmissive target. Then I can put the custom .icc profiles in the same place.
OS is Mac 10.4.11
Cheers
David

Dear davidmiller,
Probably Monaco decided to make a new version (standard compliant) of the reference file for the transmissive target but not yet for the reflective (hence only one of those work).
You should place the profile created with any other application in the following folder:
Mac/library/ColorSync/Profiles
cheers
