Installing May 19 version of Silverfast Ai 6.5.0r6

NOTE: after posting this I went to the downloads section and found that the Ai 6.5.0r6 download available there has a date of 5/19/07, later than that I originally downloaded, 5/16/07. I had just missed the corrected version when I upgraded. I have downloaded the newer version and will install it tomorrow, hopefully solving the Photoshop freeze problem.

I have had the same problem as recounted in other posts: Photoshop freezes after completing a scan just as the image opens in Photoshop CS3. I am scanning from an Epson 2450 connected by firewire to an Intel Mac running OS 10.4.9 with the latest (May) Security Update.

I purchased the Silverfast Ai upgrade, 6.5.0r6 about two weeks ago: it is dated 5/16/06. I have been using the scanner the last few days and several times Photoshop would freeze as described above. When I try to Force-Quit Photoshop, the Force Quit dialogue shows 'Photoshop is not responding'. The system is frozen and I have to shut down manually by holding down the power button. Has it been determined whether the Silverfast driver is the determining factor? I assume by the date that I have the updated version of the upgrade to 6.5.0r6.

Normaly the issues with PS CS3 should be gone with the latest SilverFast 6.5.0r6 version.

I tried to return to the Silverfast formum yesterday to report that the issues with Photoshop and system freezing were apparently solved with the corrected 5/19 download of V 6.5.0r6. Could not get Safari to load the webpage then. In any case, Silverfast seems to be fine now, and stable. With the earlier version of version 6.5.0r6, the program seemed 'nervous': for instance, cropping was a frustrating excercise because the handles on the cropping rectangle tended to evade one's grasp. Now Silverfast's normal smooth operation has been reinstated. I can't think of another software company that attends so quickly and efficiently to correcting problems, a reflection of pride in the quality of the product.
