Silverfast 6Ai, V750 Pro, iMac Intel OS X 10.4.8 & PS CS

I'm a 40 year 'veteran' photographer, but a genuine 7 day 'novice' at scanning B&W 6x6 negatives and color positives via an Epson V750 Pro into an Intel iMAC OS X 10.4.8 and PS CS2 9.0.2 for printing to an Epson R2400.
I have everything up and running and making prints. However, I want to enjoy the power of the Silverfast 6Ai that came with the scanner. I have installed Silverfast software as directed, registered it, downloaded updates etc. but cannot get CS2 Photoshop to work with Silverfast. In trying to open, it "does not recognize file" etc. I have uninstalled Silverfast again, for the moment.
Is Silverfast 6Ai with updates set up to run with the Intel iMAC OS X 10.4.8? If so, what I am doing wrong, or not doing, in order to get Silverfast up and running?
Just to confirm, the scanner, iMAC and Printer are working great - if I don't try to install Silverfast.
I'm sure this is a problem with me, not the equipment.
Advise please.
