Negafix Profiles disappear/ Black negative scan

I just got an Epson V750 yesterday. I'm running a Mac G5 OS 10.4.7, Dual 2.3 Ghz with 2.5 Gig RAM.
I installed the Silverfast software (version 6.4.3r4a) did a negative scan yesterday and everything was great. I quit the software, turned off the scanner and put the computer to sleep. Today, I turn on the scanner and launch the Silverfast software and the negative prescan comes up black and all of the Negafix profiles are gone. I did a computer-wide search for them and they're all gone. I didn't even shut the computer down from yesterday to today. What's going on?
I tried reinstalling the software but with no different results. Please help.

Check to make sure you have SilverFast set to scan Transparencies & Negative Vs Reflective & Positives.

Hi I'm workin with a Ibook G4 and an Epson 4990 photo, very good results until today. My negative scan is black and negative profiles disappeared. The image I get is black where there should be negatives and a mix of white and green and yellow pixels all around.
I tried dowloading the trial version of Silverfast AI 6.4.4 r6, but the problem persist. I am forced to stop my work in search for a solution.

I have the same problem with the 4870. Negative scans worked fine for a little while with 6.5 AI Studio THEN BLACK one day, with speckles, almost like it was operating in a 4 bit mode or something. I have tried the usual remedies, settings are correct. This is one buggy piece of software with almost no technical support except what one can glean from this forum occasionally. Let me know if you discover a solution to this problem. The software is unuseable at this point.

Black scans, no Negafix profiles

I upgraded to Ai Studio six months ago to take advantage of the multisampling feature with my 4990 (which causes my G4 to crash, but that's another post ...)
The same problems occur for me: black previews and scans whith transparency / negative selected. All Negafix profiles gone. As a temporary fix, I use the scanner in transparency / positive mode and then convert my B&W negative scans to positives in Photoshop. This can't work very well for people with color negs., though.
I notice that nobody has offered a solution to this issue. Moderator? SF folks?
