10000xl unsharp?

Hello,

I'm new here on this forum. I'm from the Netherlands and since a couple of days we have the 10000xl with a Transparency Unit (TU). We have some problems in sharping.

In the past we have had the Fuji Lanovia C-550. This is a top-scanner and ofcourse there will be some difference in output between the Fuji and the Epson.

Hardware
Apple G5
2X 2,7 GHz
Software
Silverfast AI v6.4.2r9

Not when I scan a document or photo as you can see here (all illustrations are 100 procent crops of a 20X30cm image, direct from scanner):

The difference is not that obvious.

But now with the TU:

Why is the difference that big. I mean, the scanner can provide sharp scans when I NOT use the TU, so why do I see such a big difference.

Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Dear Joris

I might be of help if we'd knew a little more about the settings which you are using when producing unfocussed scans like this.
There's the SF_Logfile and SF Statistics (more details) I'd like to ask you to provide to our support staff.

First please open a support request via the contact form, and then you can email those text files to us when you get the "request received" confirmation email,
Thanks very much in anticipation of your kind co-operation :)

Best regards

I'd like to know the outcome. I'm about to post a very similar question. We're having a frustrating time getting sharp scans of 35mm mounted slides with SF Ai and the Epson 10000. The results look similar to the ones posted above.

Thanks,
Matt
