hi,
i'm testing silverfast se on my 1640 and am running into problems when scanning slides or negatives. the transparency unit is switched on and works, but silverfast seems to turn it off before scanning my slides, turns it back on when scanning is finished.
in my epson twain conrrol panel i just switch source to TPU, but i don't see how and where to do that in sf.
any ideas?

Hello bort,

With SilverFast open click on the general tab. Then set "Original:" to transparency, "Pos/Neg:" to negative and you should be all set.

hey rag,
thanks for the reply, but i've done that, that's how i tried to scan before, and that's what doesn't work. it seems odd, the backlight in the transparency unit is on, when i click prescan or scan in SF, the backlight is switched off, it stays off while the scan head passes below the scanner glass and gets switched back on when scanning is finished.
cheers,
bort

bort,

Not sure what the problem is then, but that is the place to activate transparency scans in SilverFast. Do you have the most recent driver from Epson?
