Does anyone know if the newer Epson 4490 model will be supported in the future?

The Epson Perfection 4490 is (unofficially) already support by SilverFast. The version you can currently download (642r5c) should work with this scanner, so you can try it out on your own. Please note however, that the ICE function is currently not supported for this scanner.

Best regards

Thanks Ralf...

The program works wonderfully with my 4490, even though the Digital Ice is not implimented yet (I don't use this anyway).

After just a few test scans, I can already say without a doubt that Silverfast gives substantially better scans than the bundled Epson software, or even the superior (to Epson) v**s**n. I have some illustrations to scan that were done in acrylic paint, so the surface is recessed a bit - with Silverfast and the multi-scan option, I'm able to get a surprising amount of shadow detail out of this scanner, and I might even go as far as to say that the scans are now on par with the Microtek 9800xl's we have here in the labs (3.7dmax, A3 scanners). This software is simply superb.

In any event, thanks very much for the heads up.

Just purchased one of these scanners over the holidays and was wondering if ICE is in the works for the Ai version..

I do see that (as of Version: 6.4.3r6b, File size: 12.07 MB, Date: 2005-12-21) that the scanner IS officially supported.

But really would like to know if ICE and batch scan will be supported...

Thanks
