Epson 4870

I would like to use only Silverfast so do I have to install the EPSON software as per Epson instructions or can I just install Silverfast on the new 4870 ?
I am on MacOS 10.3.2

Dear Edo,
it should be enough to just install SilverFast for the
Epson Perfection 4870 under Mac OS X.

now i would like to upgrade from SE Bundle to AI.
Can I just dowload AI (after I order and pay) or will I receive it by mail?
