Epson 2450, SFE-6.1.0r6(Epson-SE), firewire & MacOS 10.3

My configuration is:
Epson 2450, SFE-6.1.0r6(Epson-SE), firewire & MacOS 10.3.1
Oddly enough, it all works with USB fine, but not with firewire. I've tried many solutions: different cables, repairing permissions, rebooting machines, etc. Below is my logfile.
Any thoughts?

3. If your scanner is connected via USB or FireWire (IEEE 1394):
Make sure, that you have installed the most current driver for your scanner.
