Epson Perfection 3170 Photo - Silverfast SE 6.1.0r01

I have tried both plugin and TWAIN versions of Silverfast SE 6.1.0r01 with my Epson 3170 Photo, having selected the version for the Epson 3200 Photo for download. The software simply freezes and has to be killed (I'm running Windows XP Home).

How soon will Silverfast support the Epson 3170 scanners, or is there some trick to getting the 3200 version to work?

The scanner 3170 is not supported, and I don't know this scanner at all. What internal name has this scanner ? (Perf. 3200 == GT-9800)

kind regards

It's a new model, apparently meant to be a smaller sibling of the 3200 but with essentially the same capabilities. How would I find out what the internal name is?

I asked the same question on the "Wish List Forum" and got this reply;

Epson 3170 will be supported very likely in the not-to-far future. :)

We hope to be able to release a SilverFast version with support for the Epson Perfection 3170 and 1670 in 1-2 weeks. The Windows version is currently passing our inhouse testing, the Mac version will follow a bit later.
