I'm really new to scanning. i have boxes of color slides i want to scan. i purchased an Epson 3200 and i'm trying to use the SilverFast Ai that came with the scanner-here's the problem. the scanner came with a holder to scan in 4 slides at a time but when i use SilverFast i scan in the slide holder and the slides instead of just the slides.

what gives? why doesn't it just scan the slides? is there a way to do this? i really have a lot to scan and i want to use SilverFast.

any ideas? i have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 to launch SilverFast, is that okay? is there something better to use that came with the 3200 Perfection?

Dear dylansmith.

The use of PhotoShop Elements is ok.

You are abviously trying to scan all 4 slides in one scan. SilverFast doesn?t offer the ability to automatically find the 4 slides and scan them as 4 individual images.
Instead you can drag multiple frames and scan them in batch. To do so, please adjust the first frame, so its border is around your first slide. Then drag a new frame and position it around the next slide. Do this for all further slides. Then select "batch (normal)" or "batch (to file)" in the general panel.

The Perfection 3200 is a flatbed scanner and when you do a prescan you will see what's on that flatbed - the slide holder with the 4 slides. To scan the 4 slides separately, make the default frame smaller to just cover one slide and drag three new frames around the other slides (or copy the first frame by Alt-clicking). You can save your frame setup for that holder in the General panel under Frame-Set.
Maybe you also want to set the Scan Mode to "Batch Mode". It will scan all the frames in one batch.
