Scanning Resolution 11000xl Photo

I'm considering buying an Epson 11000xl Photo to wet scan my 8x10 black and white negatives. I've called Epson and they don't understand what I'm trying to do so I hope someone here can help. I want to make really large prints so I want to scan my negatives at 2400dpi which is the scanners resolution. I've been told that the scanner may be able to scan the negative at 2400dpi, others said it won't do it and someone said that it may with Silverfast. If someone can help with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
