LaserSoft Imaging

I have an older SprintScan 4000 and would dearly love to do multi pass scanning to decrease shadow noise.

I received an email yesterday from LaserSoft that seems to indicate that their software corrects for the stepper motor registration problems that some scanners have (including mine)

My question is- has anyone actually tried this on my model scanner? And how well does it register the multiple passes?
