1. i'm considering getting the 120 glass carrier. main reason--> i've noticed some edge softness / focus issues in my scans (specifically, i use a modified 35mm holder--> scan xpan negs etc...).
2. question: overall impressions of the glass carrier?
3. question: any color cast, color balance issues when using this glass carrier? i use negs and thus use negafix all the time and want to know if the glass carrier is a problem with negafix etc...

We tested the glass carrier and it works well with SilverFast and Negafix.
If you like to use this carrier for 35 mm filmstrips, there might be appear some problems, because you can use this carrier normaly only for other formats: 6* 4.5 >> 6* 6 >> 6*7 and 6*9. This means, also in the overview scan you will find the thumbnails with this format. If the edge of a 35 mm picture of the filmstrip will not come together with the edge of one of the other formats on the glass carrier, the picture will be devided in the thumbnail and the prescan. There is no complete undivided scan over the whole glass carrier available.

1. Just to all interested--> I would highly recommend NOT purchasing the polaroid glass carrier.
2. Color balance: as noted above--> not an issue, things are fine here.
3. The HUGE problem is that you can see... basically the glass pattern; it's terrible. I guess at 4000 ppi, the antinewton texture shows up in the scan.
4. To all who use the glass carrier, if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know. However, I'm pretty sure that I'm not. When I scan, I scan at 4000 ppi and DO NOT use sharpening during the scan etc...

I ordered the glass carrier the day it was offered and have been using it since then. In my scans, I am not able to see the anti-newton glass pattern or anti-newton rings. I'm sure my original film is plenty sharp to be able to notice these artifacts if they were present because I use a Mamiya 6 Rangefinder camera with its incredibly sharp lenses and typically use a tripod. Overall, I have been quite pleased with the scans using the glass carrier and was rather surprised to see this post and one earlier that discussed anti-newton paterns or rings from the glass carrier.
