Polaroid SS120, Windows XP, SilverFast AI, and Firewire

I apologize if this topic has been covered specifically elsewhere, but a search did not yield the information I need.
I am planning on purchasing a Polaroid Sprintscan 120 with the bundled SilverFast AI software. My OS is Windows XP, updated to the lastest SR. I have neither SCSI nor Firewire on my Dell Dimension 8100 PC at present. I would prefer to install a Firewire PC card (Belkin F5U51) rather than SCSI (Adaptec 2906) because of its ease of installation and greater speed. I have read of SF AI incompatibility with Firewire and Windows XP. My plan when I get the scanner would be to upgrade the Polacolor Insight Pro software to V 5.5.1, the scanner firmware to V 1.33, and the SF AI software to the latest V 6.X, so I would have all the latest "fixes." Has the firewire/XP/SF AI issue been resolved with the most recent AI updates? I read in another post that this is the case with the MAC OS. Please advise if this plan is feasible, or if SiverFast AI is just not going to work with Windows XP and Firewire under any circumstances. Thanks,
Jim

Dear Jim,

we tested the Polaroid SS120 under Windows XP with a FireWire connection (Ratoc PCIFW2), there was no noticeable problem. :D

There should not be any problem with the FireWire card you want to purchase. You can still buy the card and download a demo version of SilverFast.
