Problems with Ilford HP5 scans

I never scan B+W negs. The two times I have I have not been successful. On these current 35MM negatives I find the contrast very high ,poor shadow detail and washed out highlights. The negatives may be a bit overexposed but I can not seem to bring everything into line. I am using NegFix 5.5 and a Sprintscan 120 on a MAC G4 . Any suggestions?

Ilford HP Scans overexposed in NegaFix

Go to the NegaFix Expert dialog and select Curves. If the upper right has a curve with a bump, use the edit mode to make the section of the curve linear. This will reduce the contrast and decrease the overexposure!

How to use the negaFix expert dialog is explained in the SilverFast full manual (or PDF).

Still having the same problem this time with Kodak Potra B+W film. I tried the curves but I am not having much luck. Contrast is the probem, setting the white point and black point does not help. Which film channel should I be using for B+W film?
