hi,

i got the latest silverfast and when i try to install it as a PS 5.5 plugin it crashes
photoshop. the error message says something about not being able to open the ASPI layer. i know ASPI is a SCSI thing and my pie 1800u is a usb scanner. does anyone have any idea why this would happen? i am using win 98SE. the scanner works ok as a twain plug in with the pacific drivers in PS 5.5 but not with silver fast. i even tried to disable my SCSI card in my hardware profile and it still won't help. any thoughts???? i'm stumped.

thanks in advance,
derek...

p.s. of course it works on my mac i book

Dear techno,
you can leave your SCSI card active. This error may be due to the fact that SilverFast - although it is a USB device - needs these ASPI drivers for accurate communication with device. You may have not the latest ASPI layer version for Win98 installed. Check this site: http://mrp.freeshell.org/aspi/index.htm
and install latest ASPI files for your Win98se
