I've read here recently that the Photoshop plugin can't be used with any other application, not even Photoshop Elements.
Would it be especially difficult to make the photoshop plugin work with applications other than photoshop?
Just curious, as I expect the TWAIN interface will be okay for me.
Thanks!

Photoshop Plugin versus TWAIN
The Photoshop plug-in technology has several advantages:
1. 2-way comunication with host (functions of host can be used in plug-in)
2. Colour Management is interwoven between host and plug-in
All this is assuring best performance and predictbale colours!

What President_LSI says about the advantages of Photoshop plugins over TWAIN is interesting, and makes me wonder even more:
Is it feasible for LaserSoft to make the Photoshop plugin work with anything besides standard Photoshop? Especially, perhaps, with Photoshop Elements?
This would make the plugin advantages available to many more people who don't have the big budget for PhotoShop.

I just got a Epson Perfection 2450 which comes bundled with Silfast SE and Photoshop Elements. The instructions state that the installer will look for PS on your system and if it's not installed, will ask/try to install PS Elements. So, it appears that the plugin works with it, at least on this scanner.

Interesting, as it's stated elsewhere here that the Photoshop plugin works only with real, full Photoshop.

SilverFast SE was on the Epson disc but PS Elements was a seperate disc, so I guess it'll ask to insert the PSE disc. Since, I have PS v6.01, it just kept going. In fact, checking for PS is the first thing it does.
The Epson install was a rather sluggish process compared to other installs. The opening window was so slow appearing that I thought that my system locked up on me!!

Very late reply, but if you still need to know, the SilverFast plugin works exactly the same with Photoshop Elements and with Photoshop 6. Install Elements first, then the scanner software, SilverFast and Twain, then hook up the scanner. I used Silverfast with Elements just fine for a month, then got Photoshop 6, uninstalled and then reinstalled SilverFast.
