as SilverFast doesn't install its own drivers, but uses the ones installed by
Epson, I guess the connection is only correlating in time, but not causally linked.
However, I would suggest you de-install the
Epson software and then re-install the latest drivers from the support section of the
Epson website. After a reboot I would suppose things are back to normal.
