Embedded Profile Mismatch

Hi Forum,

I'm getting an "Embedded Profile Mismatch" message when my Nikon 4000ED scanner scanned a transparency in and is about to place it in PhotoShop 7.

Embedded: Adobe RGB
Working: Adobe RGB

Use, Convert or Discard are the 3 options.

Looking at the past topic related to the mismatch, I tried to remedy the problem, downloaded the latest AdobeRGB (1998) icc profile (7. Aug. 01) and copied it, since I had altered the original icc profile in an attempt to calibrate my monitor and saved it over the original version. Well, I still get this profile mismatch message, despite placing that latest Adobe icc profile in Windows/System/Color and replacing the previous file from my monitor changes.

Next, I searched for the Adobe RGB (1998) files and found my computer has them in 2 locations with 2 different dates:

Windows/System/Color -> Adobe RGB 1998.icc dated 7. Aug. 2001

ProgramFiles/CommonFiles/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended -> Adobe RGB 1998.icc dated 2. April 2002

Which one do I use and in which folders do they need to be? Is there a difference between the 2 RGB 1998 files? I have a PC with Windows 98 platform.

Thanks for your help. Ulrike

Dear Engelhardt,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure what you mean with your suggestion to use the profile dated 7. Aug. 2001 in PS and SF. I haven't found any color profile folders in their folders.

In Photoshop under Edit -> Color Settings I only have one option for Adobe RGB (1998). In Silverfast Options -> CMS tab under Profiles for ICM I have Adobe RGB (1998) 3 times and Adobe Monitor Profile 4 times in the pull down list. How can I change that?

Thanks. Ulrike
