Hello, I recently shot some 6X9 film intermittent pause when the scan is very strong, about every two seconds will be intermittent pause time.
No such problem when scanning 6X6.
What is the reason?

Re: Intermittent pause when scanning 6X9
Dear DMY,
Such behavior normally means, that the cache of the scanner is filling up because the data cannot be transmitted or written fast enough.
Please make sure your scanner is connected directly to a FireWire port.
Do not cascade it through another device.
Disconnect other devices which might transfere a lot of data through the FireWire hub.
Try placing the temporary SilverFast files on a second drive if available.
This option can be found in the SilverFast preferences' general tab.
kind regards,
ArneKetelhohn.

Re: Intermittent pause when scanning 6X9
Thank you so fast to answer my questions.
Directly via FireWire successive 9000DE, with the purchase of scanner Nikon delivery of PCI FireWire card, I found that there is no such problem in the Nikon Scan software.
Yesterday, I tested to 2000DPI SF8 no intermittent pause, as long as 4000DPI would be such a problem.
Thank you for giving opinions, I'll try to change the temporary file storage disk.

Re: Intermittent pause when scanning 6X9
Hello, I have to store temporary files to the D drive, increase in speed when scanning 6X9 (4000DPI), but still very slow.
Does this relationship and the hard disk? I am using Western Digital's green plate.
The drive itself is not very fast.

Re: Intermittent pause when scanning 6X9
I noticed that the SF8 in the process, the computer CPU and memory occupancy rate is not high, then the temporary file must be written to the hard disk?
Can not use large amounts of memory instead? I have 8G of memory.

Re: Intermittent pause when scanning 6X9
We are currently working on improvements for the memory management.
So it wil be possible in the future to adjust it better to individual systems.
Especially if they are outfitted very powerful.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Computer configuration is generally more powerful, and hopes to develop a large memory management, multi-core CPU management, and the use of GPU computing, and more.
I hope the silverfast more and more powerful.
